Unicorn Pee!

Hi All!
Today I have LA Splash, Nail Splash in Embellished for you! The bottom of the bottle actually says "Embellshed" but seeing as that isn't a word, I'm assuming it's a typo.

Often times when a polish fanatic finds a polish that is sparkly, and eye-popping they will call it "Unicorn Pee" and that's exactly what I think of Embellished! My pictures of this polish don't really do it justice. It's a beautiful pink based polish with very fine pink glitter, a little bit of very fine blue glitter, larger pieces of a pale pink/silver glitter, and still larger pieces of holographic glitter. In the sunshine it is stunning! I have a really blurry picture so you can see all the different colors the holographic glitter changes to in the light.

This was two coats of Embellished and two coats of thin topcoat, since it's a fairly chunky. You could probably get away with one coat of a thicker topcoat, like Seche Vite.

See all the colors?! How pretty!!! I'm loving this polish! I've seen LA Splash at Ulta, but I found this on a display at my local Harmon Discount store (which is owned and operated by Bed Bath and Beyond, I believe, so sometimes you can find things in their beauty section). It retails for around $3.99, so it's not a budget buster either!

What do you guys think? I know that it's hard to tell in the pictures, but do you think it's worthy of the "Unicorn Pee" title?

Cheers,
Nancy

Holy Holo!

Hi All!

Sorry I haven't posted in quite a while; my nails have been a wreck! They've been weak and peeling, which is a problem I get quite often :( I just got a new treatment for this, which I hope to post about in a week or so.

In the meantime, I have a brand new purchase to show you! Nfu Oh #65 (the images are all either in direct sunlight, or indirect sunlight):

(Direct sunlight)

(Indirect sunlight)

So the coolest part about Nfu Oh holos is their dense, linear, rainbow coloration in direct sunlight. #65 is actually a really pretty powder-blue (think Cinderella's gown in the Disney movie) and it dramatically changes color in the sun, which is why I made a .gif for you!

See?! How freaking cool is that?! This is why I love Nfu Oh holos!! I have the silver (#61) too, but since this just came in the mail yesterday, I had to post it! Nfu Oh is a Korean brand (pronounced enefu oh) and while they are widely know and loved for their flakies as much as their holos, the holos are my personal favorite. Someday, when/if I have money, I want to own them all!

Nfu Oh #65 can be purchased for $12.50 at Fabuloustreet.

The price is a little steep, but they are well worth it. PLUS Fabuloustreet has free shipping within the USA! Win/Win!

I also have the Aqua Base for Holo polishes that they sell, and I highly recommend it to prevent drag and streaks!

Cheers,
Nancy

Lady Gaga, will you be my Valentine?

Hi All!

In honor of Lady Gaga's new single, "Born This Way" being released tomorrow, the fact that it's almost Valentine's Day as well as the fact that I am single, I chose Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance as my NOTD!

I'm not a huge fan of the see-through quality of the black jelly base, so I first did 2 coats of plain black polish, and then one coat of Bad Romance. I always do this with Across the Universe too (substituting navy polish for the black). I prefer the way it looks, plus it extends the life of these two gorgeous, and pricey, polishes!

Please forgive my cuticles! They're gross right now, and they made my manicure look pretty sloppy in the close-ups! :(

Cheers,
Nancy

Cash Money

Hi all!
Today I have the beautiful Ivanka by Zoya for you! I cant help but think of money when I see this polish. Partly because it is an amazing shade of green, and partly because the name just makes me think of Ivanka Trump! Anyway, here she is in all her glory! :)

This was 3 coats, although I probably could have gotten away with two. This is one of Zoya's foil-glitters, which I am a big fan of. The particles almost look like a combination of green and gold, but that might just be my eyes playing tricks on me!

Cheers,
Nancy

Arabian Nights

Hi all!

I'll be posting an introduction soon, but I couldn't wait to share this NOTD with you! :)

I've been waiting for days so that I could take photos of this manicure in the sunlight! It's quickly become my favorite combination; Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue (no. 33) and the stunning Nfu Oh 51.

The color here came out very odd, but I included it because you can see the flakies well, and the greenish/aqua color on my pinky nail!
Here you can see some of the beautiful aqua/green color of the Nfu oh 51 flakies!

The colors are actually accurate in this last picture! It's that bright in the sun! :)

This combination surprised me! It has that enchanting "lit from within" kind of glow to it, and unfortunately my photos don't do it justice. Nfu oh 51 is a purple with amazing multicolored flakies, and so the sparkle on the nails changes from the pinky-orange color you see in the photos to turquoise and green. The combination is blurple (a combination of blue and purple), almost ultraviolet. I used two very thin coats of Pacific Blue, which is actually quite watery, but highly pigmented (although it smells kind of skunk-like) and then 2-3 coats of Nfu oh 51 on top.

Nfu oh 51 can be purchased at http://www.fabuloustreet.com/ for $12.50. It's a little steep, but there's free shipping within the USA! Pacific Blue can be purchased at most drugstores, and retails for around $2.99.

A friend of mine told me my manicure reminded her of the song "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, but I thought it was more "Arabian Nights"-esque. What do you think?

When the sun comes back out I'll post photos of each color individually!

Cheers,
Nancy

UPDATE 2/10/11: Here are some images I took of the bottles of Nfu oh 51 and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue!
